IGaming licence granted to 888 in Ontario Canada

888 Holdings has become one of the first operators to have been issued an iGaming licence by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO).

AGCO is set to launch its newly regulated market on 4 April, and 888 plans to offer casino, sport and poker products to prospective players across the province.

888 claims its expansion into Ontario’s newly regulated market is an important step in its growth strategy, with the state of Ontario representing an attractive new market with exciting long-term growth.

The operator further cites its eagerness to leverage all marketing expertise, placing importance on effective product leadership and bespoke gaming opportunities with exclusive relevance to local Ontarian players.

888 feels confident it can achieve its goals in this new market, by utilising its self-professed strong brand awareness.

The company’s CEO Itai Pazner commented on the issuance of the iGaming licence by the AGCO, saying: “We are delighted to have been awarded a licence by the AGCO and look forward to launching in the market when it officially opens. As a group, our focus is on strengthening our presence and offer to customers across key regulated markets.

“To that end, Ontario represents an attractive long-term growth opportunity for 888 and this is an extremely strategically important milestone for us.

“As we prepare for launch in the coming weeks, we are excited to bring all of 888’s leading products and games to new audiences across the province, providing our unique and differentiated experiences to players.”

IGaming licences are also held by 888 in 19 regulated markets around the globe, including seven US states. Revenue generated from these locally regulated, taxed markets accounts for 74% of 888’s 2021 revenue.
